ANNA SCHMIDT

Anna Schmidt of Clearbrook, B.C, passed away Aug. 14. She was born Feb. 8, 1901 to Tobias and Elisabeth Schmidt in Steinfeld, southern Russia. She read to her grandmother from a sermon book when there was no Sunday service. In 1914 she received Christ through a tent meeting in Steinfeld, based on Is. 43:1. She began singing in the choir. In 1920 her mother died; she cared for her 5 sisters and 2 brothers. In 1921 she married Daniel Schmidt. In 1926 they immigrated to Blumenfeld, Man., later moving to Alberta. After three years Alberta, they moved to B.C., eventually settling on a farm near Clearbrook. they lived, they found opportunities to serve and love. Clearbrook MB Church ordained them as deacons. She also sang in the senior choir and was a faithful prayer warrior. She loved the church and attended whenever possible. On July 26 she and her husband were struck on a pedestrian crosswalk. She never recovered, but retained her love, faith and sense of humour. Daniel, although still a hospital patient, was able to attend the funeral Aug. 17 in Clearbrook MB Church with John E. Klassen, John Reimer and Aaron Schmidt ministering. She is mourned by her husband; children Daniel, Martha Reimer and Aaron; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and 4 sisters.
