PETER H. KOOP

Peter H. Koop of Winnipeg passed away Aug. 12. He was born Jan. 1, 1903 to Heinrich H. and Susanna Koop in Karassan, Crimea. A few years later they moved to the Don region, where his father established a flour mill. He attended school a t Barwenkovo, Crimea. In his 20th year, he accepted the Christian faith in a village where many had been praying for him. He met Mariechen Dyck in 1928, but he was forcibly transported to northern Russia in 1929. In November he escaped to Germany, immigrating to North Kildonan (now part of Winnipeg) in 1930. He joined the group organizing North Kildonan MB Church. He married Mariechen Dec. 11, 1932. Their testimony is that the Lord protected and blessed them in good times and in times of great poverty.
