JACOB ABRAM FROESE

Jacob Abram Froese of Abbotsford, B.C. passed away June 20. He was born Mar. 8, 1894 to Abram and Susanna Froese in Wiesenfeld, Ukraine. In his youth he accepted the Lord, was baptized and joined the MB church. He was drafted and served 3 years in a forestry camp. In 1918 he married Helen Reimer. His father and brother were shot by bandits, and the rest of the family fled to Molotschna. Helen died in 1919. In 1920 he married Agnes Riesen, a seamstress. In 1925 they immigrated to Rosthern, Sask., where they bought land. In 1933 they moved to Yarrow, B.C. In 1935 he started a butcher shop, which was later sold. In 1957 Agnes passed away. In 1958 he married Helen Brauer. They had a small fruit farm and enjoyed gardening. In 1983 they moved to Menno Home, Abbotsford, where he enjoyed daily walks and visiting. He is remembered as a grateful person who showed his thankfulness. Predeceased by 2 wives and son Henry, he is survived by his wife Helen; sons Aron of Abbotsford, Ed of Yarrow, Len of Sardis, B.C. and Irwin of Burnaby, B.C.; daughter Carole of Prince Rupert, B.C.; stepson Nick Brauer of Vancouver; stepdaughters Lesie Thielman of Kitchener, Ont. and Lena Dyck of Terrace, B.C.; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and 1 brother. The funeral was June 23 in Yarrow MB Church, with Ron Braun and Henry Claassen ministering.
