Justina Penner

Justina Penner of Virgil, Ont. passed away Mar. 29. She was born in September, 1909 to David and Wilhelmine Penner in Alexanderwohl , Molotschna, Ukraine. In 1910 the family moved to Hamburg, Ukraine, where she lived until 1943. She accepted Christ at age 14 during special services led by J. Wiens and A. Unruh. She was baptized in 1928 and joined the Mennonite Church in Landskrone. In 1943 she fled to Poland, then to Germany and the Netherlands. In 1947 she immigrated to Canada. In 1949 she joined Yarrow (B.C.) MB church. She moved to Vancouver, where she worked in a convalescent home. In 1955 her sister Helen and family immigrated to Ontario, so she went to live with them. She worked at Bethesda Home in Vineland, Ont. for many years. In her last years she suffered from a serious heart ailment. She is mourned by her sister Margaret Boese in Russia and sister-in-law Maria Penner in B.C. The funeral was Mar. 31 in Virgil MB Church, with George Wichert ministering.
