Cornelius John Penner

Cornelius John Penner of Winkler, Man. passed away Jan. 28. He was born June 27, 1910 to John and Sara Penner in Ignatyevka, village 6, Russia. Here he attended elementary and high school. In 1918 he accepted Jesus. The family immigrated to Winkler, Man. in November, 1926. He worked as a hired hand on several farms near Kronsgart, Man. He was baptized June 12, 1927 and accepted into Kronsgart MB Church. He married Rosa Dyck Oct. 20, 1935. They made their home on a farm in the Badger School District. He is remembered for his hard work on the farm, for his love of music, singing and travel and for family devotional times. He spend much time in prayer and reading his Bible, hymnbook and devotional books. Predeceased by his wife Apr. 17, 1988, he is remembered by his children Ed of Winnipeg, Kathryne Thiessen of Fort St. John, B.C., Ron of Winkler, Lorne of Winkler, Leonard of Winnipeg and Emily Hiebert of Morden, Man. and 9 grandchildren. The funeral was Feb. 1 in Winkler MB Church, with Jake Neufeld and Wally Klassen ministering.
