In 1950 he married Agnes Penner of Gem, Alta. For eight years they rented a farm adjoining his father 's land, then bought a farm near Sunnyside, Alta . During the last six years he and son Ron worked closely together in their farming operations. He took great pride in growing the best crops he could. For the past 20 years he enjoyed driving school bus and being with the children. He was active in church, serving as an usher for over 25 years, greeting people with a friendly smile. Predeceased by an infant sister and a brother, he is survived by his wife; son Ron and daughter Shirley Fast, both of Coaldale; his parents of Coaldale ; 2 sisters and 5 grandchildren. The funeral was Dec. 23 in Coaldale MB Church, with Rudy Heidebrecht and Bruno Toews ministering.
