JACOB P. DYCK

Jacob P. Dyck, a resident of Winkler, Manitoba area all his life, was born on February 23, 1890 in Blumstein, near Winkler, to Peter and Anna (nee Peters) Dyck. He grew up in a large family and accepted the Lord as his Saviour during his early years. In 1902 he was baptized and joined the Winkler Mennonite Brethren Church. On June 11, 1916 he married Bertha Banman. The Dycks were blessed with eight children.

The greater part of Mr. Dyck's life was spent as a farmer in Burwalde and he enjoyed farming very much. Three of these years were spent in Winkler working at the mill. In 1949 the Dycks moved to Winkler. Mr. Dyck enjoyed good health most of his life. On May 17 he went to bed early, not feeling well, and passed away that evening. He was predeceased by his youngest daughter, Lillian, her husband and six children in an automobile accident in 1975, and by Loretta, the oldest grandson's wife. Funeral services were held on May 21 in the Winkler Church, with pastor John D. Stoesz and Rev. Frank Friesen officiating.

He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Bertha; three sons and four daughters; Peter and Mary Dyck, Winkler; Annie, Colombia; Bill and Anne Dyck, Chetwynd, B.C.; Evelyn, Winnipeg; Ella, Winkler; Jake and Tina Dyck, Winnipeg; Lena and Toby Voth, Winnipeg; 14 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two brothers; four sisters; one step-sister; one step-brother; and many other relatives and friends.
