text of obituary:
FRANK F. FUNK
Frank Funk was born on November 10, 1898 at Reinfeld, near Winkler, Man., the son of Franz and Katherina (nee Reimer) Funk. On February 2, 1918, on an exceptionally warm and beautiful winter day, he married Gertrude Wiebe. They were blessed with eight sons and three daughters. The Funks moved to a farm near Niverville, Man. in 1937 where they farmed until retiring to Steinbach in 1963.
In the early years of their marriage, the Funks attended the Old Colony Mennonite Church, then the Kleingemeinde Church at Prairie Rose. In 1950 they were both baptized and accepted into the Niverville Mennonite Brethren Church, later transferring to Steinbach. Mr. Funk stated that he personally received Christ at the age of 32 years. His favorite Bible chapter was John 14, which he read often. In 1971 he was partially paralyzed by a stroke, and his health declined from that point. During the last several months he affirmed that he was ready to meet the Lord and expressed a strong desire to "go home." The Lord granted this on May 18. He passed into the presence of God with a radiant smile on his face.
He leaves to mourn his beloved wife, Gertrude; three daughters and eight sons and theirfamilies: Tina (Mrs. Karl) Goertzen, Landmark, Man.; Gertrude (Mrs. Richard) Nickel, Lantzville, B.C.; Helen (Mrs. Greg) Hartley, Chilliwack, B.C .; Frank, Winkler, Man.; Peter, Landmark; Cornie, San Fransisco, Calif.; Jacob , Argentina; John, Port Moody, B.C.; Abe, St. Vital, Man.; Henry, Niverville, Man.; and Isaac, Port McNeil, B.C.; 38 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one brother; five sisters; and many relatives and friends.
