text of obituary:

MRS. NETTIE NEUFELD

(Mrs.) Nettie Neufeld was born in Chortitza, southern Russia on October 28, 1901 to Peter and Marie Paetkau, the seventh of 11 children. She spent her childhood and youth in Russia, where she accepted the Lord and was baptized. In 1925 she emigrated with her parents to Canada, settling first in Manitoba and in 1936 moving to Greendale, B.C.,. her home until her death on February 5. Mrs. Neufeld was a member of the Greendale Mennonite Brethren Church and taught Sunday school for many years. She was keenly interested in young people. After her retirement from Sunday school teaching she continued an active prayer ministry. She was active in Missions Kraenzchen Ladies' Aid, MeC and Red Cross projects, and an active member of the Blind Institute. Despite the handicap of poor eyesight, she lived a full life, employing what she had for the service of God and the welfare of others. On February 12, 1967 she married a widower, Adolf Neufeld; she was always a patient, caring wife and mother. The joy of improved vision after an operation on January 10, 1977 was shortlived . A heart attack led to her passing in early February. She leaves to mourn her husband Adolf; four sons, Leo, Peter, Frank and Alex; six daughters, (Mrs.) Marie Schmidt, (Mrs.) Elsa Voght, (Mrs.) Neta Schmidt, (Mrs .) Helena Fast, (Mrs.) Louise Kliewer, and (Mrs.) Ira Ketler; 42 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers , John and Jake; one sister, (Mrs.) Maria Enns; and many friends.
