ELLA CLAASSEN REGIER

Ella (Claassen) Regier, daughter of Gerhard and Elise Claassen, was born at Whitewater, Kan. on Oct. 2, 1884. She grew up and attended elementary school in the community.

On June 1, 1903 she was baptized upon the confession of her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ by Rev. Gustav Harder and became a member of the Emmaus Mennonite Church near Whitewater where she gave testimony of her love to the Lord by faithful attendance at all services.

On Jan. 5, 1905 she was united in marriage to Gustav H. Regier of Whitewater. In 1920 they celebrated their silver wedding anniversary. In May of 1948 she with her husband moved to Whitewater, retiring from active farm life.

She enjoyed health and strength through the years. The Lord blessed her with various ministries, including visitation and entertaining with real hospitality her many friends, especially missionaries. Another was a prayer ministry for her family, the church and meeting once a week with a group of ladies to pray especially for the salvation of boys and girls at home and abroad. She was devoted to her family, and we shall never forget the love she showed to all.

On Nov. 11 she fell, fracturing her hip. After being in the hospital three weeks she was able to come home for nine days, then was admitted again to the hospital for a thorough checkup, but she steadily grew weaker. On Dec. 19 at 3:40 p.m. the Lord in His infinite wisdom saw fit to take her to Himself. She reached the age of 79 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, who passed away in August, 1951; also two grandchildren, one great-grandchild and one brother.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. C. B. Thierstein of Whitewater, and Mrs. H. H. Klaassen of Newton; two sons, Gus, Jr. and W. G. Regier, both of Whitewater; two sons-in-law, two daughters-in-law, ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one sister and two brothers and other relatives and friends. — The Family.
