text of obituary:

. . .

• A near head-on collision on Highway 81 at the West 23rd Street intersection, North Newton, last Friday afternoon claimed the life of 27-year-old James Urconis of Newton and injured three other persons. Urconis was a passenger in a southbound car driven by Fred L. Slaven, 42,who said he was confused by a car ahead which started to make a left turn at 23rd Street and then straightened out. He pulled into the other lane and crashed into a northbound car driven by Mrs. Denton Holderman of Galva. Her sister, Sherrill, 19, was a passenger. Slaven and the two women escaped with minor injuries.
