Three Members of Winkler, Man. Family Among 6 Victims of Crash

Winkler, Man. — Triple funeral services for a Winkler couple and their 26-year-old daughter, victims of a head-on crash at St. Jean, Man. which claimed six lives, were to be held Sunday afternoon, Sept. 1, at the Winkler Mennonite Brethren Church.

Instantly killed when their 1953 model car collided with another auto were Henry J. Enns, 55, his wife Nettie, 60, and Frieda Enns, 26,who was to have been married in about a week. She was employed at the Morden hospital.

All the occupants of the other car also were killed. They were Donald Stammen, 24, and Barry Edwards, 27, both agronomists and 4-H leaders with the Manitoba Department of Agriculture, and Stammen's father-in-law, Melvin Johnson, 46.

The crash occurred Aug. 27 on a straight stretch of Highway 75. Officers sought to find witnesses who might give a clue as to the cause of the tragedy.

Surviving Mr. and Mrs. Enns are seven other children, Frieda being the eldest daughter.
