Indiana Boy Critically Hurt in Highway Crash

Berne, Ind. — A highway crash near Decatur, Ind. on Aug. 12 claimed the life of four-year-old Dan D. Alfred and resulted in critical injuries to Kent D. Steiner, seven-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard l. Steiner, formerly of Berne and now of Upland, Ind.

The injured youth is a grandson of Rev. and Mrs. E. G. Steiner. Rev. Steiner, former pastor of the Evangelical Mennonite Church here, is now executive secretary of the Evangelical Mennonite Conference. The Alfred youth was a son of Rev. and Mrs. Reginald Alfred of Selma, Ind.

Members of the Steiner and Alfred families were en route to Lake Placid, N. Y. when a truck skidded on a curve, the trailer hitting the station wagon driven by Rev. Alfred.
