text of obituary:

EMMA RUTH

Mrs. Emma Ruth, nee Eyman [sic Eymann], was born on Nov. 14, 1876 in Dover, Iowa, and passed away at her home in Upland, Calif. on April 3 at the age of 86 years, four months and 10 days.

In 1886 she with her parents and their family came to Moundridge, Kan. where in 1902 she was married to A. J. Ruth. Her husband died in 1921 and a year later she with her four children, and her parents, sisters and brothers, came to Upland where she had since resided.

About two years ago her health became impaired and she soon became a bed patient. Complications followed and a respiratory condition necessitated the use of oxygen for several months.

She was a member of the First Mennonite Church of Upland and was active in the Missionary Society, being the chairman of benevolence. Her sweet and cheerful disposition endeared her to all who knew her.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Levi Hirschler of Upland and Mrs. Spencer Colvin of Hollywood; one son, Marvin, and a sister, Edna Harms, both of Upland, and six grandchildren. One daughter preceded her in death.

Funeral services were conducted in the First Mennonite Church at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, April 5, with her pastor, David Habegger, officiating. Interment followed at Belevue Cemetery.
