MRS. LENA SIEBERT

Our mother, Mrs. Lena Willems Siebert, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Willems, was born near Inman, Kan. on March 7, 1883. She spent her childhood days on a farm helping her parents in pioneer life and also attending the elementary school. It was also in this community that as a teen age girl she recognized her lost condition and accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour. On Oct. 3, 1897, she was baptized upon her confession of faith and united with the Zoar Church of Inman, Kan.

On Dec. 7, 1900, she was united in holy matrimony to our father, Jacob P. Siebert. This union was blessed with eight children, five sons and three daughters. Two sons preceded her in death.

Our parents made their first home on a farm in the Inman-Buhler vicinity. In 1913 they moved to Hillsboro, Kan. and in 1918 to Reedley, Calif., which has been their home to the very last.

Our mother was a radiant Christian, always ready with a testimony, and she taught her children the importance of prayer and the value of reading the Word of God.

Six years ago she entered the Reedley Home for the Aged where she received the best of care to the very end. On Thursday morning, Dec. 20, 1962, the Lord called her to eternal rest. She reached the age of 79 years and nine months.

Those who remain are her six children: Jack of Palm Springs, Calif., John of Los Angeles, Calif., Menno of Cottage Grove, Oregon, Betty, Mrs. George Doerksen of Denair, Calif., Agnes, Mrs. Leonard Patt of Reedley, Helen, Mrs. Otto Buller of Cottage Grove, Oregon.

Besides these there are three sons-in-law, three daughters-in-law, three daughters-in-law, ten grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

The memorial service was held in the Reedley Mennonite Brethren Church on Dec. 24, 1962, with the pastor, Rev. Dan Friesen, officiating. — The Family.
