MRS. ELIZABETH PENNER

(Mrs.) Elizabeth Penner was born on July 22, 1897 to Abram and Anna Wiebe in South Russia . She found Christ at the age of 14, and was baptized and joined the Mennonite Brethren Church in 1917.

Shortly after marrying Jacob Penner in November 22 , 1925, she moved to Manitoba. The Penners spent their entire married life in the Lena-Holmfield area, and the Lord blessed their farming efforts, during the hard pioneer and the more prosperous 1960's. He also gave them seven sons and one daughter. They retired to Killarney, Manitoba in 1967.

Mrs. Penner had a serious stroke in 1973 which paralyzed her right side and robbed her of speech. She suffered quietly and was always happy to see family and friends who came to visit. She enjoyed singing the hymns of the faith. In November, 1975 the Penners celebrated their golden anniversary. A sudden deterioration in her health led to her quiet passing into the presence of the Lord on June 3. A funeral service was held June 5 at t he Lakeview Mennonite Brethren Church in Killarney.

She leaves to mourn her beloved husband , Jacob; seven sons and their wives, John and Alida, Jake and Anna, Abe and Elizabeth, David and Kae , Edward and Mary, Erwin and Emma, Alfred and Esther; one daughter, Susan (Mrs. Les) Walker; 20 grandchildren; one brother, Henry; one sister, (Mrs.) Anna Dyck; and many friends.
