JACOB BLOCK
Katherina Block on May 24, 1919 in Arkadak, Russia. In 1926 the Block family moved to Canada, eventually settling in the Borden, Saskatchewan, area. During a stay of several months in Osborne, Manitoba, in 1926 he accepted Jesus as his Saviour. In 1937 he was baptized and accepted into the Borden Mennonite Brethren Church, where he enjoyed the fellowship and encouragement of Christian friends. Mr. Block, and his wife, Susie, whom he married on July 26, 1942, were blessed with four girls and two boys. Both sad and happy times drew the family together and closer to the Lord. Mr. Block was grateful to the Lord for keeping the family from severe sickness and accidents for many years, and also for many material and spiritual blessings. His challenge to the family is from Jude 24-25 and Psalm 100:2. During the summer of 1975 the Blocks moved to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan after he became too ill to continue farming. He was taken home to the Lord on December 2. At a funeral service held December 5 in the Borden Mennonite Brethren Church, Rev. Henry Gossen and Rev. Henry Penner officiated. He leaves to mourn his beloved wife, Susie; four daughters, Irene (Mrs. John) Penner, Rosalie (Mrs. Edward) Willems, Violet (Mrs. Murray) Gossen, and Karen; two sons, James and John; two grandsons; his step-mother, (Mrs.) Elizabeth Block; six sisters, seven brothers, and many other relatives and friends.
