JOHN GUNDEN

John Gunden, son of the late John and Mary (Swartzendruber) Gunden, was born Dec. 16, 1889, at McPherson, Kansas. He was fatally injured in an accident on his farm near Bay Port, Mich., aged 69 years, 10 months and six days.

On Sept. 24, 1914 he was united in marriage to Rachel Albrecht. In his youth he accepted Christ as his Saviour and remained true to the church until death.

He is survived by his widow, Rachel; three daughters, Iva, Mrs. Lawrence Swartzendruber, and Clara, Mrs. Mark Stalter, both of Bay Port, Lola, Mrs. John King of Sarasota, Florida; four sons, Glen, Olin and John Dale, all of Bay Port, and Delmar of Sebewaing, Mich.; one foster son, Michael Sape of Linwood; 26 grandchildren; one great-grandson; five foster grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Mose Albrecht of Bay Port and Miss Laura Gunden of Pigeon, Mrs. Sol Mayer of Sarasota, Florida, Mrs. Jess Byler and Mrs. Fannie Yoder, both of Pigeon, Mich.; and three brothers, Chris of Goshen, Ind., Joseph of Sarasota, Fla. and William of Elkhart, Ind.

Funeral services were conducted by Emmanuel Swartzendruber and Willard Mayer on Sunday, Oct. 25, 1959 at the Pigeon River Conservative church near Pigeon, Mich.
