To Establish Home for Girls In Jamaica as Memorial to Nurse
SPECIAL FUND SET UP IN MEMORY OF PEGGY BRUNK BRYDGE, R. N.
Harrisonburg, Va. — Plans are being made by the Virginia Mennonite Board of Missions and Charities for the establishment of a home for needy girls on its field in Jamaica.
The home will be known as the “Peggy Brunk Brydge Memorial Home” in memory of the late Mrs. Elwood Brydge, R. N., daughter of Bishop Truman Brunk, who lost her life last year in a tragic auto accident at the age of 25.
Mrs. Brunk, whose friendly disposition and Christian devotion had endeared her to many, had expressed a special interest in the Jamaica field. Only a short time before her death she heard Warren and Erma Metzler, on furlough from Jamaica, tell of the needs of neglected girls on that island in a service at the Warwick Mennonite Church. At that time she expressed a desire to do something toward establishing a home for girls.
Shortly after her death, the Memorial Fund was authorized by the Mission Board. Members of the Memorial Fund Committee are Roy D. Kiser, treasurer, Warren Metzler, Erma Metzler, Katie F. Shank and Ruth B. Stoltzfus.
