John Peter Neufeld was born May 5, 1900 at Munich, North Dakota to the Rev. Peter H. and Helena (Voth) Neufeld. With his parents he moved in 1902 to Winkler, Man., where he attended school. Upon confession of faith in Christ, he was baptized on August 17, 1917 and received into the Mennonite Brethren Church of Winkler. Later the family moved to Altona, Manitoba, where John married Helen Reimer in December , 1925. To this union was born their son , Bruce Neufeld. In 1927-28 he attended Normal School in Winnipeg, then attended St. John's College (now the University of Winnipeg) and embarked upon a teaching career in Manitoba. In 1930 the family moved to British Columbia where he was occupied in teaching school and farming. In B.C. another son Gerald was born, who died in infancy . During the early years in B.C. they made their chufcl1 home in Greendale Church where he served as Sunday school superintendent, choir director, on the church council and in various other responsibilities. On April 11, 1958 he married Mary Epp and they later united with the Willing don MB Church where they happily served together. This was to be disrupted in the providence of God when Mary was called to be with the Lord on February 8, 1971. On December 6,1971 he and Nina Redekop were married and allowed to enjoy each others companionship. Together they were members at the Fraserview MB Church and enjoyed being active participants. He was suddenly called into the presence of the Lord on November 1. The funeral was held at Fraser view Church with Rev. Loyal Funk officiating. He leaves at his passing his dear wife, Nina; his children, Bruce and Sue Neufeld; his children by marriage, Henry and Joyce Klassen, Robert and Frances Loewen; 12 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, three brothers and two sisters. He will be remembered as a likeable and understanding man both by family and friends.
