MARIA KRAUSE
Maria Janz Krause was born October 13, 1869, in South Russia. At the age of 16 years she came to America with her mother and two sisters and settled near Hillsboro, Kansas.
On June 10, 1889, upon confession of her faith in the Lord Jesus, she was baptized in the Alexanderwohl church near Goessel, Kansas.
On Feb. 22, 1894, she was united in marriage with Abraham J. Krause, at which time she became the stepmother of two small sons; six children were born to this union, two of whom, Rudolf and Lena, preceded her in death. her husband departed this life August 25, 1918.
In the year 1903 she, with her family, moved form Goessel to near Mountain View, Okla., and with a few brief interruptions, has made it her home since. She was a charter member of the Ebenezer Mennonite church and remained a faithful member until the time of her death.
For the last 18 months she had been bedfast and suffered much. Although loving hands did all that could be done, she peacefully passed away on the morning of Aug. 15, at 9:30 o’clock, at the age of 76 years, 10 months and two days.
She leaves to mourn her passing her children, P. A. Krause and W. A. Krause of Mountain View; Mrs. J. E. Epp of Newton, Kansas; Adolph Krause of Gotebo; Sara Krause of the home address; Ferdinand Krause of Porterville, Calif.; and 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a brother, Leander Janz of Cordell, Okla.; two sisters, Mrs. John Epp of Goessel and Mrs. Henry Krause of Mountain View; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held in the Ebenezer Mennonite church at Gotebo, Okla., with Rev. Walter Goossen, pastor of the home church, and A. G. Duerksen from Corn in charge. A mixed quartet from the home church and a men’s quartet from Corn furnished music. Six of her grandsons were pall-bearers.
