JACOB KORNELIUS NEUFELD

Jacob Kornelius Neufeld Jacob Kornelius Neufeld, late of 2341 Beaver Street, Clearbrook, B.C. passed away on Aprj;! 25 in the ChiHiwack General Hospital, in his 68th year.

Mr. Neufeld was born on May 22, 1902 in Serge'iewka, South Russia, the only son of Kome'lius and Anna (nee Janzen) Neufe·ld. In 1918 the family ned to Germany and took up res'idence near Stuttgart. There Jacob completed his school·ing and there he also accepted Christ as his personal SavioU'r. In 1922 the family was able to emigrate to Canada, and Jacob went to Hve at Drake·, Sask.for a year. That same year he was bapt;ized in Herbert, Sask. by his uncle, Rev. Heinrich Neufe·ld, and accepted into the Mennonite Brethren Church .

Mr. Neufeld moved to Winni'peg after a short stay in Saskatchewan and began to work in the newly formed Rundschau Pub'lishing House, headed by Herman Neufeld. Except for a short period when he work ed els ewhere, he spent the rest 'Of his working life with the firm, over forty years, inoluding the later years when i,t became The Christian Press. Foa good part ·of that time he was the Printshop manager.

In 1926 Mr. Neufelld was ma,rried to Kaethe Penner, a unlion which was blessed with one chHd, a daughter, and which continued until her pass,ing in 1947. In 1949 he found a second life's pa'rtner, Sara Baerg, who survives him. Mr. and Mrs. Neufeld had 'I'ived 'in Clearbrook for the past year and a haH.

Besides his wife, Mr. Neufe1 ld is survived by his daughter, Irene, wife of Dr. Jacob Dick of SaskatDon, and f·our grandchHdren; as well as two s·isters, M rs. Ma ria KoS'lowsky o·f Olearbrook and Mrs. Jacob Peters of Winnipeg.

The funeral service was he,ld Aprill 29 from the Clearbrook Mennonirte Brethren Churoh, Rev. Herman Lenzmann offioiating.
