MRS. ANNA SCHELLENBERG

Anna Schellenberg (nee Wiebe), 67, went to be with the Lord on February 25. She was the wife of David J. Schellenberg of Winkler. She was born in South Russia on February 17, 1901 and as a teenage girl lost her mother. A few years later her father also passed away so that at 19 years she was left to take care of a family of five younger brothers and sisters.

In 1921 she married David J. Schellenberg and in 1923 they emigrated to Canada, settling in Winkler. As much as she was able she continued to share her home with her brothers and sisters until they too could establish their own homes. The Lord spoke to her through a great revival in the village of Gnadenfeld, Manitoba, in 1928 and in 1929 she herself found peace with God. A few years later she openly confessed her faith and was baptized and received into the Winkler Mennonite Brethren Church. She found great satisfaction in the fellowship and worked actively with the Ladies Missionary Circle.

During 46 years of married life, God blessed their family with seven children, one of whom, an infant son, predeceased their mother.

She is survived by her husband David; five daughters, Mrs. Peter (Anne) Enns of Elm Creek, Mrs. David (Helen) Klassen, Mrs. David (Martha) Penner, Miss Ella Schellenberg, and Mrs. Jake (Marlene) Thiessen, all Winnipeg; one son, Alfred, also of Winnipeg; 15 grandchildren; three sisters and two brothers and many relatives and friends.
