HELENA WIEBE

(Mrs.) Helena Wiebe was born in Alexandrowka, Russia on January 29, 1891. She was baptized and received into the Mennonite Church in 1911 by Elder Boschman. In 1919 she married a widower, Nicholai Wiebe, who had two daughters. However, the five chi-Idren born to Helena Wiebe and her husband all died in infancy. The Wiebes left Russia in 1930 and resided in Rush Lake, Sask., for over three years. In 1934 they moved to Swan River, Man., and in 1946 to Winkler. Here she and her husband were caretakers in the Mennonite Brethren church for four-and-a-half years. And it was here that she joined the Mennonite Brethren Church.

After prolonged illness she passed away in the Winkler Hospital on Apri1 20. The funeral service was held on April 24 in the Winkler Mennonite Brethren Church with J.M. Schmidt officiating. Left to mourn her passing are her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Bert (Katharina) Eisner, B.C., and Mrs. Corny (Maria) Braun, Winkler; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren
