HENRY BOESE
Henry Boese was born in Crimea, Russia, on June 1, 1870. At the age of eight years in 1878, with his father and members of the family, he emigrated to America and settled in York county, Nebr. In the 90s he took up a homestead in the vicinity of Mitchel [sic Mitchell], South Dakota. On this homestead he resided eight years. He went back to York county in 1900. he then went to Kansas where he was baptized upon confession of his faith and received as member of the Alexanderwohl church near Goessel, Kansas. later he transferred his membership to the Bethesda church of Henderson, Nebr. Later upon moving to Madrid, Nebr., he joined the First Mennonite church there remaining a faithful member to the end.
On July 7, 1901, he was married to Katharina Huebert. This union terminated on January 29 of this year, when Mrs. Boese passed away, after having lived together in holy matrimony for 43 years. Five children were born to this union: one daughter, Eva Mabel, preceded them in death at the age of two years.
After their marriage they established their home in York county, Nebraska, where they resided until 1930 when they established a new home in Perkins county. Here they lived to the end of their earthly days.
For five weeks after the death of his wife, Mr. Boese made his home Henry and wife Edna, of Canon City, Colorado. During these weeks he grieved very much about the passing of Mrs. Boese. On February 28 he had a heart attack of which he partly recovered. On March 4 he had a stroke, paralyzing him so that he was bedfast. His speech and eating were completely impaired. From this time on he failed rapidly. He passed away in the Canon City hospital on Marhc 7 at 1:30 p.m. at the age of 74 years, 9 months and six days.
He leaves to mourn his departure, his children: Minnie and husband, Rudolph Reimer, of Madrid, Nebr.; Henr [sic Henry] and wife Edna, of Canon City, Colorado; Benjamin, of Washington, D. C.; Herman and wife Evelyn of Madrid, Nebraska; one borther, Jake Boese, of Cope, Colorado; one sister, Mrs. maria Becker of North Newton, Kansas; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. P. G. Janzen of Henderosn, Nebraska; Mr. and Mrs. George Huebert of Dallas, Oregon,
