Tobias J. Wedel

Tobias J. Wedel, son of Jacob and Eva Ratzlaff Wedel, was born April 4, 1858, in Antonofka, Russia. he was baptised by Elder Tobias Unruh in 1874, just before emigrating from Russia. he joined the Mennonite faith and was a member wherever he made residence.

He came to America in the year of 1874, settling in the Lone Tree community near Moundridge, Kansas. In the spring of 1895, he and his family came to Meno, Oklahoma. Here and at Lahoma, he spent the remainder of his life.

He was married to Helena Koehn on December 21, 1878. To this union were born ten children, of whom seven died in infancy. His wife died December 17, 1910. The surviving children are: John and David of Golry, Oklahoma, and Maria (Mrs. John Boehs) of Ringwood, Oklahoma.
