text of obituary:
HEINRICH H. GOERTZEN
Our father, Heinrich H. Goertzen was born in the village of Nicolaidorf, South Russia, on April 12, 1861. In the year 1874 he with his parents came to the United States, where they made their new home in Marion county, Kansas.
He was baptized on December 4, 1881, by the Elder Jacob Buller and became a member of the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church. He was married to Anna Schmidt by Rev. Heinrich Goertz on May 15, 1885. He lived in this state of matrimony 46 years, 7 months and 5 days. To this union were born 13 children, 6 sons and 7 daughters, of which 7 preceded the father in death. He was grandfather over 11 grandchildren, of which two have died.
In 1922 our parents moved to Hillsboro, Kansas. When the physical condition of mother demanded close medical attention they entered the Old People's Home at Goessel, Kansas. Two years later mother died and father then made his home for one year with his children, Menno Goertzens, and one year with his son D. H. Thiesens. The last two years he spent in the Old People's Home at Goessel, Kansas.
In unwavering faith he held to Jesus Christ his Lord and Savior. His desire was to go to his heavenly home. This desire was fulfilled when on June 1, 1936, at 2:30 p. m. he was called from this earthy life to his eternal rest.
His life covers the span of 75 years, 1 month and 11 days. He leaves to mourn his departure, 6 children, 11 grandchildren, 2 brothers, 4 brothers-in-law and many relatives and friends.
Jesus lover of my soul,
Le me to thy bosom fly,
While the nearer waters roll,
While the tempest still is high!
Hide me, O my Savior, hide
Till the storm of life is past;
Safe into the haven guide, O receive my soul at last.
The Children.
