Oil Field Accident is Fatal of John Hohmann.

John P. Hohmann, brother of Prof. W. H. Hohmann of Bethel College, was fataly [sic] injured last Thursday afternoon while working in the McPherson oil fields where he was employed. The tragic accident apparently occurred as Mr. Hohmann was helping with drilling operations and a heavy pipe jarred loose from a hoist, crushing him under its weight as it dropped. Seriously hurt on head and shoulders, he is reported to have lived only about one hour after the accident.

Mr. Hohmann, whse home was formerly at Deer Creek, Okla., was recently transferred to the McPherson field. Funeral services were held at the Deer Creek Mennonite church last Sunday.

J. Paul Hohmann.

J. Paul Hohmann was born at the family home near Deer Creek, Oklahoma, on July 25, 1901. He passed away near McPherson, Kansas, on April 4, 1935, as a result of an oil well accident when he was struck by a falling drill pipe. His life was ended abruptly at the age of 33 years, 8 months, and 10 days.

He united with the mennonite church at Deer Creek through baptism on July 14, 1918, and was a member of this church until the time of his passing away. He received his education in the Deer Creek schools after which he entered oil field work. He made his home with his parents until his work took him elsewhere. On December 20, 1933, he married Lillian Miles of Amorilla, Texas.
