JACOB P. NEUFELD

Jacob P. Neufeld of Kelowna, B.C. passed away on October 1. He was born on April 25, 1904 to Peter P. and Elizabeth (Penner) Neufeld in Prijuit, Russia. At 17 years he ac· cepted Christ as his personal Savior, was baptized and joined the Allianz Church. He began immediately to teach Sunday school and preach in the church. He married Marie Giesbrecht on August 30, 1925. They im· migrated to Winnipeg in the same year. He was ordained to the ministry in 1942 by the South End Mennonite Brethren Church in Winnipeg, which he pastored from 1949-62. For five years he served as missionary to Uruguay under MB Missions/Services. He then took a position as administrator/chap' lain of Tabor Home in Morden, Man., until 1973, then pastored the Elm Creek (Man.) MB Church for two years. In Kelowna he served as pastor in the Kelowna General Hospital from 1975-78, and to his last day served in the Kelowna Gospel Mission. Over the years he has been active in many con- ference boards and committees. He is surviv· ed by his wife Marie; son Jacob and wife Ruth of Montreal; daughters Helen and hus- band George Schroeder of Kelowna, and Edith and husband Walter Janzen of St. Catharines, Ont.; 13 grandchildren, 13 great- grandchildren, and one sister, Tina Klassen of Drumheller, Atla.
