KATHARINA SCHMIDT

Katharina Schmidt died July 21. She was born in Aliesowa, Russia Apr. 23, 1914 to Peter and Susanna Krieger. Bible reading, prayer, and singing were an important part of the family's life. She attended Sunday school as long as com- munist authorities permitted. At 9, she accepted Christ. KCltharina worked on a collective farm for 10 years where labour was hard, food often inadequate, hours long. She remained true toway by authorities only a year later and died spect for church leadership. In 1967, they moved the following May. In 1947, Katharina was bap- to Abbotsford, B.C. and became members of tized and became a member of the MB Church Bakerview MB Church, where they served on in Bavaria. Katharina and her daughter lived in the food committee. Peter enjoyed retirement Germany and Paraguay, then settled in Abbots- ford, B.C. in 1952. Katharina worked in the berry fields, and enjoyed her garden, knitting, and the Maranatha ladies' fellowship. Predeceased by and spending time with his family. Predeceased by 2 brothers, he is mourned by Kay; 4 children and their spouses; 9 grandchildren; 8 great- grandchildren; brothers and sisters. Rempel Bernhard W. (Ben) Rempel died July 14. He was born Sept. 16, 191/;i to Wilhelm and Margaretha Rempel in Gruenfeld, Russa . At 6, he immigrated with his family to Canada. At 12, Ben accepted Christ as Saviour. In 1943, he married Anna Pen- Sara , and Mariechen; brother Johann; nephews and nieces. The memorial service was July 27 at Clearbrook MB Church, Abbotsford, B.C. her faith, even though many denied it. She married Gerhard Schmidt in 1940. He was taken
