ALPHA J. UNRUH

Alpha J. Unruh was born to David B. and Carolina (Ratzlaff) Unruh on May 24, 1906 near Meno, Okla. He died suddenly at his home near Lahoma, Okla. on Dec. 24, 1974 at the age of 68.

Funeral services were held in the New Hopedale Mennonite Church at Meno on Dec. 28 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Arnold Epp, former pastor, officiating.

He was baptized on Sept. 3, 1922 by Rev. H. U. Schmidt and became a member of the New Hopedale Church. He attended school near Meno, graduating from Oklahoma Bible Academy and later from Lahoma High School.

He married Almeda Johnson of Ringwood, Okla. on Aug. 28, 1927.

For many years he was Sunday school treasurer and a Sunday school teacher. Later he was church treasurer and was on the church board of trustees and the OBA board. He also sang in the men's chorus and the men's quartet for a number of years.

He was a farmer all his life. He was also a mechanic and an employee of Singer Metal for 19 years.

Survivors include his wife, of the home, one son, Aldon, and wife Lavon and two children on Lincoln, Neb.; one daughter, Carolyn and husband John Cantley and their son, at present of the home; two brothers, Leslie Unruh of Wichita, Kan. and Rudolph Unruh of Meno; two sisters, Margaret Nickel of Clinton, Okla. and Rebecca Reimer of Milford, Okla, and several nieces and nephews.
