MRS. NETTIE KLIEWER
Nettie Kliewer was born to Henry and Agnes (Grunau) Goertzen of Henderson, Nebraska, on September 10, 1901, in her parents farm home. She grew up near Henderson, and came to salvation there also. She was 12 when she came to the realization of sins forgiven and in the same year, on June 27, 1914, she was baptized by Elder John J. Kliewer, along with 80 others, in the Blue River and received into the Henderson Mennonite Brethren Church.
On October 26, 1919, she was united in marriage to John C. Kliewer at Hepburn, Sask., and for 19 years they farmed near the town of Hepburn. To their union was born one son, Alvin J. Kliewer. Nettie loved to serve the Lord, for many years she sang in the church choir and took part in other activities for her Lord. In 1937 they moved to Fresno, California, where they were engaged in the building trade. They became charter members of the Bethany MB Church of Fresno. She became seriously ill on February 16, 1972 and spent some time in the hospital. After a few days at home she again returned to the hospital and on March 24 she. went to meet her Lord and Saviour.
She was much loved as a wife, mother and grandmother. She leaves to mourn her departure, her husband, John C. Kliewer of Fresno; son Alvin of San Jose, Calif.; three grandchildren, Eugene, Gerald and Elaine, also of San Jose; and two great grandchildren; as well as two sisters and two brothers. Memorial services were held in the Bethany Church of Fresno on March 28 with Rev. Robert Radtke and Rev. J. B. Toews ministering. Rev. R. M. Baerg led in a graveside meditation.
