ABRAM D. HIEBERT

Abram D. Hiebert died Oct. 19, at Menno Home, Abbotsford, B.C. He was born to Abram and Justina Hiebert May 4, 1911 in Herbert, Sask. He grew up in Winkler, Man. He was baptized and joined the MB Church. He farmed near Steinbach, Man. He married El isabeth (Betty) Giesbrecht June 26, 1938. he was the spiritual leader of his home, leading the family in Bible reading, dis- cussion and prayer before breakfast and sup- per each day. He was a farmer, carpenter and shoemaker. He was janitor for 25 years, and later chaplain at Steinbach Bethesda Hospital. He taught Sunday school and led Bible stud- ies. He possessed a keen sense of humour which he stifled because to him being a sp iri- tual leader and humour did not mix. He was respected as a man of great faith, always hav- ing a kind word or Scripture to encourage. They moved to Abbotsford, B.C. in 1985. He recorded Bible stories, sermons and choruses to give to others. Predeceased by Betty in 2001, he is mourned by children Ruth Gies- brecht, Walter, and Lydia Penner, all of Mani- toba; Bill, Vio la Blakeburn, Vic and Dennis, all of Abbotsford; 23 grandchildren; 17 great- grandchildren; 4 brothers; 1 sister. The funeral was Oct. 25 in South Abbotsford MB Church with David Epp ministering.
