THELMA MARY HUESKEN


Thelma Mary Hu es ken pass ed away Nov. 4. She was born May 24, 1922 to Wilfr ed and Elizabeth Mow er in New We stminster, B.C. She wa s an accom - plished violinist, play- ing solos in retirement hom es, playing for wedding s and funer- als, and playing with the Melody En se mble. She and husband Erwin lived in North Delta for 25 y ear s, moving to acreage in the Co- lumbia Vall ey in the 1970s. She m ade home a warm, welcoming place and fed many a haying crew to the point whe re it was diffi- cult f or them to go back to work. Sh e was a member of Yarrow (B.C.) MB Church, active in the Dorcas - Ruth sewing circle and making quilts for MCC. She was a fa ithful supporter of Stillwood Camp and Conference Centre, for a number of years corre sp onding with campers as "Aunt Nettie" as part of the camp's follow-up. She greatly impact ed her family through her pra yers , ava il ab ility and faithfulness. Even while in hospital with leukemia, she continued to encourag e others through h er co nve r sa tions and prayers, re- minding th em of the things that rea lly mat- ter. Sh e is mourned by Erwin, her husband of 59 years; children Claudia janzen, David, and Paul, all of Chilliwack, B.C.; 8 grandchi l- dren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 1 sister. The memorial se rvice wa s Nov. 8 at Yarrow MB Church.
