JACOB A. SCHMIDT

acob A. Schmidt pass ed away May 28 in Sa skatoon. He was born Dec. 10, 1911 to Cla ss and Anna Schmidt near Wald- heim, Sask. He was rai sed in a fa rm family of 9 children. He ac- cepted Christ at 13 dur- ing a tent revival meet- ing and w as baptized soon after. He studied 2 winters at Bethany Bible School in Hepburn, Sask. He married Ann ie Wall Oct. 25, 193 1. They f ar med on his parents' homestea d for 31 years. Th ey b eca me deacons at Brotherfield MB Church in 1948 and were ordained in t his ministry in 195 2. In 1963 they moved to Saskatoon, where they served as deacons in Central M B Church; they later joined Wes t Porta l MB Church. He wa s res ponsible for j an- ito ri al se rvi ces at th e Universi ty of Saskatchewan's Vete rin ary College. He affect- ed many pe ople with his positive, friendly, car- ing nature. Despite 2 bouts wi th ca ncer, fro m which he recovered, he remain ed se lf-reliant and was active in helping many during his re- tirement. In 2002 he and Annie moved to Bethany Manor. Predeceased by all his sib- lings, he is mourned by Anni e; children Klin - ten, Lois Block, Wayne, and Sophie; 11 grand- children and 11 great-grandchildren. Th e memorial service wa s M ay 31 in West Portal MB Church, Saskatoon, with Dway ne Bark- m an ministering.
