ANNA KLASSEN

Anna Klassen of Stei n- b ach, Man . passed away Apr. 13. She was born Ma y 1, 191 7 to Jakob and Justina Poetk- er in Terek, Steintha l, Russia. Her father died of typhus in 1918. The family moved to a sheepherder's hut in Rueckenau, Russia. The family, except her sister Justina , immigrated to Manitoba. Her mother married Henry Wieler; they farmed near Stein- bach. Anna was bap- tized in 1935. She mar- ried Peter Klassen Apr. 23, 1938. She enjoyed travelling, making 11 trips to Russia as well as Alaska, Israel and the US. Predeceased by Pe- ter Jan. 15, 1987, daughter Frieda Apr. 24, 2000, 3 brothers and 2 sisters, she is mourned by 3 grand- children; 7 great-grand- children; 1 sister; 1 brother and 1 half -si s- ter. The funeral was Apr. 17 in Steinbach MB Church, with Abe Klassen and Neil Rem- pel ministering.
