JACOB TOEWS

Jacob Toews of Leamington, Ont., passed away on April 23. He was born to Jacob and Katharina Toews on December 29, 1904 in Memrick, southern Russia. He was con verted at age eighteen, and soon after was baptized and received into the Mennonite Brethren Church. In 1924 he emigrated to Canada with his family. He was married to Adina Bergman in 1928, and the young cou ple became members of the Griswold (Man.) Mennonite Brethren Church. In 1935 the Toews's moved to Leamington, Onto They became active in the MB church there, serv ing as a deacon douple from 1951-1970.

His family will continue to cherish his love and service to those around him. He was predeceased by five brothers and sisters, one daughter Annie and two grandchildren. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Adina; four sons and their wives: Ben and Anita, Willie and Annetta, Frank and Alice and John and Janet; twelve grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. The funeral was held in the Leamington Mennonite Brethren Church, with Art Willms officiating.
