ISAAC JOHN KLASSEN

passed into the presence of the Lord on June 22, 1978. He was born on September 25, 1902 in Sagradowka, in the village of Reinfeld (No. 16), in southern Russia. He placed his faith in Christ as his Saviour on the day that his parents were murdered by bandits, November 29, 1919, during the time of anarchy in southern Russia. He confessed his faith through baptism on September 25, 1921 and was baptized by Rev. Jacob Janzen and joined the Allianz church. On February 28, 1926 he was married to Gertrude Steingart, a union blessed with two sons, Henry and John. After 19 happy years, the Lord took his wife home. After nearly five years as a widower, he found a wife and mother to his children in Mary Rempel, whom he married in Winnipeg on December 10, 1949. To this marriage another son, Alfred, was born. In 1957 they moved to Vancouver and later they retired to Clearbrook. They enjoyed a happy and joyful family life until his passing. The funeral service was conducted at the Bakerview Mennonite Brethren Church, Clearbrook, with Ben Zerbe and Ken Quiring ministering. Surviving are his wife, Mary; children, Henry and Marion of Mesa, Arizona, John and Katie of Winnipeg, and Alfred and Karen of Kelowna, B.C.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, as well as two brothers and many relatives and friends.
