text of obituary:
Agnes Riesen Schmidt, daughter of John M. and Eva Pankratz, was born June 27, 1900 at Hillsboro, Kan. She passed away at the Hobart General Hospital, Hobart, Okla., on April 3, 1963.
She was baptized by Rev. P. H. Unruh on June 23, 1918 at the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church near Goessel, Kan., where she became a member. She remained faithful to God and the Church through all her life.
On April 18, 1923 she was united in marriage with Rudolf N. Riesen. To this union were born two children, a son Harold Paul and a daughter Naomi June. They enjoyed life together until he passed away May 27, 1945.
Having found life lonely without a companion, she was united in marriage with Walter H. Schmidt on Nov. 12, 1950.
After her second marriage she became a member of the Ebenezer Mennonite Church, Gotebo, Okla., and was active in the Women’s Sewing Circle there until the time of her death.
Her death came suddenly. She complained of a slight headache Monday night, April 1, and entered the hospital Tuesday after she became worse. On Wednesday she suddenly went into a coma from which she did not recover.
She leaves her husband, Walter H. Schmidt of Gotebo, Okla.; her children, Harold and Shirley Riesen and Delmar and Naomi Brack, and two grandchildren, all of Wichita, Kan.; five sisters, three brothers, three sisters-in-law, five brothers-in-law, three stepdaughters and their families, and many other relatives and friends.
