Mrs. J. R. Voth, nee Elisabeth Pankratz, daughter of Peter Pankratz and Elisabeth Goerz, was born Feb. 18, 1875, in Marion County, Kan. She attended the elementary school at Springfield.
She was baptized upon her confession of faith in Jesus Christ as her personal Savior from sin June 6, 1892, by Elder Jacob Buller and became a member of the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church, Goessel. She was a faithful member of this congregation until her death.
She was united in marriage March 26, 1896, with Jacob R. Voth. Rev. Jacob Richert officiated. Their livlihood [sic] was secured through the occupation of farming in the Goessel area. God blessed this union with six children.
After the death of her husband in 1950 she moved to Goessel. She enjoyed rather good health for the length of her days. She had a deep interest and concern for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She entered the Bethesda Hospital on Sept. 11 and died the following day of a heart attack, having reached the age of 87 years. Two grandchildren and one son-in-law preceded her in death.
Those remaining to cherish her life are Mrs. Bertha Voth, Aberdeen, Idaho; Margaret, Goessel; Hebert J. and his wife Martha; Alvin P. and his wife Lydia, Aberdeen, Idaho; Reinhard and his wife, Hilda, Goessel; J. Randolf and his wife Phyllis, Hillsboro; 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Jacob G. of Goessel, Cornelius G. of Moundridge, and George G. of Newton, and many other relatives and friends.
