PETER B. UNRUH

Peter B. Unruh, son of Benjamin and Lena Wedel Unruh was born Sept. 16, 1883, near Moundridge, Kan. He departed from this life, Nov. 25, 1960, in the Enid, Okla., General hospital, reaching the age of 77 years, two months, and nine days.

As a boy he lived with his parents on a farm near Moundridge, Kan. His early Christian training was received in the Imanuel [sic Emmanuel] Mennonite church near Moundridge. It was here that he was baptized and became a member.

In 1902, he came to Meno, Okla. He then transferred his letter to the New Hopedale Mennonite church, of which he remained a member till his death. From 1902, his entire life was spent in the Meno community except for five years in California.

He was united in marriage Feb. 19, 1908, to Elizabeth Jantz with whom he shared joys and sorrows for 52 years. He was a loving father and will be greatly missed in the home. He was physically strong and healthy all his life.

On Sunday morning, Nov. 13, he suffered a light stroke, but he still did his chores that morning and attended church service. However, he gradually became worse and was left helpless. On Nov. 18 he was taken to the hospital where the Lord saw fit to take him home.

Preceding him in death were two sons, Ervin, in infancy , and Melvin in 1959, and one grandchild, three sisters and four brothers.

He leaves to mourn, his wife, Elizabeth, six children, Harold of Enid, Okla., Virgie (Mrs. Gus Koehn), Newton, Kan., Dorothy (Mrs. Julius Koehn), Oklahoma City; Elvera (Mrs. Harold Jantz), Tampo [sic Tampa], Kan., Dolores (Mrs. Ralph Stevens), Lahoma, Okla., Florene (Mrs. Wenley Bergman), Wichita, Kan., five sons-in-law, two daughters-in-law, 21 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two brothers, Tobias and Jake of Meno; two sisters, Eva, Mrs. Henry Jantz of Galva, Kan., Lydia, Mrs. Abe Nightingale of Newton, Kan. and a host of relatives and friends.
