ELVINA RATZLOFF

Elvina, wife of John Ratzloff, was born Sept. 23, 1905, near Durham, Kan. She passed away Oct. 12 in Montezuma, Kan. She reached the age of 55 years and 19 days. She died unexpectedly of a heart attack.

When a young girl she with her parents, John and Ida Buller, moved to McPherson County, Kan. Here she attended school and grew to womanhood. When she was 16 years old she was converted and baptized. She was a member of the Mennonite church.

On Aug. 8, 1926, she was married to John Ratzloff. They took up residence in the Hesston, Kan., community and later lived in several communities in Kansas. In 1946 they moved to Winton, Calif. and to 1954 to Sacramento, where they were engaged in rcue [sic] mission work In 1956 they moved to McMinnville, Ore., and took charge of the Rock of Ages Home for the Aged.

It was her concern for others that brought her to Kansas in June of this year to care for her ailing father. It was at her father's residence, while busy at work, that she was suddenly stricken and passed away.

We mourn the passing of our loved one, but are comforted to recall her conscientious walk of life. She endeavored to live so that nothing should come between herself and her Saviour.

Those who mourn her passing are her husband, and five children, Wilbert and wife Marian of San Jose, Calif., Vernard and wife Henrietta of Hubbard, Ore., Waneta Darlene and husband Richard Reed of Atwater, Calif., Rosella Ruth and husband Robert Weaver of Winton Calif., and Carol Kay of Salem, Ore.; nine grandchildren, six sisters, four brothers, and many other relatives and friends.

Her mother and one sister preceded her in death. Her father died upon hearing of her sudden passing.
