ARON PENNER

Aron A. Penner was born May 21, 1903 in Schoenhorst, Russia. In 1910 he moved with his parents to Woronesch, where he spent his years as a youth. When his parents moved to Canada in 1926 , he was forced to remain behind, which was an experience that brought him closer to God.

In 1928 he was permitted to emigrate and rejoin his family. First they lived near St. Jean, Man. Poverty was severe, but through hard work and faith in God they managed to get their daily bread. In 1929 they bought a farm near Roland, Man.

When his father passed away in 1937, the responsibility fell on Aron's shoulders. He loved farming and God blessed his work. The family worshipped in the Harold church enjoying many spiritual blessings.

Aron became aware of his lost condition, accepted Christ as his Saviour and was baptized and received into the Mennonite Brethren Church at Winkler on June 24, 1934. Here he sought to serve the Lord, and did so with much joy.

On October 4, 1958 he married Helene Derksen. When, because of ill health, the work on the farm became too difficult for them they moved to Winkler in 1967. More complications set in, and Aron continued to suffer quietly and patiently. On July 9 the Lord took him home.

The Penners were privileged to share 15 happy years of marriage. He reached the age of 71. He was predeceased by his father and two brothers both named Henry. Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Helen; his mother; and six brothers and sisters: John and Agneta Friesen, Winnipeg, Mrs. Henry Penner, Arnaud, Henry and Margaret Loewen, Isaak and Helen Neufeld, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Penner, Morden, and Mr. and Mrs . George Penner, Morden.
