GERHARD FAST

Gerhard Fast was born to Henry and Katherine Fast at Sagradowka, Russia on June 30, 1901. At the age of 12 he committed his life to Christ and was later baptized and admitted to the Mennonite Brethren Church at Sagradowka.

In 1924 he married Nettie Warkentin and in 1927 they emigrated to Canada, where they farmed in Saskatchewan. In 1941 they moved to Virgil, Ont. and later to S Catharines, where he served as deacon in the Scott St. Church.

He passed away on June 19. He leaves to mourn six sons: Aaron of Wellandport, Ont.; George of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont.; John of Capetown; Henry of Pittsburgh; Walter of Kearney; Peter of St. Catharines; four daughters: Mrs. G. (Helen) Paschke of Wessington Springs; Tena, Hilda and Mrs. E.(Lydia) Koop, all of St. Catharines; six-daughters-in-law; two sons-in-law and two sisters in Germany. His wife predeceased him in 1964.

Funeral services were held June 21 in the Grantham church, with Rev. Henry Penner and Rev. Peter Dick officiating.
