MRS. WILLARD H. REGIER

Olga Elizabeth Regier, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. P. Regier of Newton, Kansas, was born June 25, 1911, and grew up in a Christian home. Olga received her elementary, high school and two years of college education at Newton.

Through the influence of her parental home and church, she early in life accepted Christ as her personal Saviour. She gave her public testimony when she was baptized on May 27, 1928, when she also united with the fellowship of the First Mennonite church of Newton.

Olga loved the Lord and served Him in a number of ways as she felt called. She enjoyed studying the Word of God and teaching it to others as Bible school teacher, in Sunday School, Sunbeam Junior and Christian Endeavor, and in whatever she was asked to do.

On September 25, 1936, she was married to Willard H. Regier and they traveled life's journey in companionship for almost 16 years. Having made our home on a farm near Elbing, Olga joined the fellowship of the Zion Mennonite church of Elbing in the spring of 1937.

In her new home she showed a great interest in her work at all times, which will be missed very much in the time to come. The Lord blessed the home with two children, Lois 13 and Eldon 12 years of age, who brought great joy into the home. They will remain a great joy and comfort to their father.

About four years ago, upon the doctor’s examination, it was found that she had leakage of the heart. Although her strength was somewhat limited, she was still able to take care of her household and other duties. In March 1951 we were advised to consult a heart specialist, who advised that she should take a complete rest in bed for some time. It was during this time especially, that we experienced many expressions of love and thoughtfulness from relatives friends and neighbors. As time went on her weakened heart condition brought on other complications affecting other organs of the body.

Recently we were able to take a short vacation in Colorado which the doctor had granted her, and on the way were able to spend a Sunday with her brother, Walter and family at Colby, Kansas. The day after returning, July 14, was her father’s birthday, and feeling quite rested from the trip, we decided to spend the evening with the parents. While there, she became suddenly very ill, suffering much pain. The doctor was called, who advised that she should enter the hospital.

During the remaining few days of her life she so often said, "Lord; it would be so wonderful to be with Thee." She suffered much but was confident with Paul when he says, "For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us." (Romans 8:18). This the Lord granted her on Sunday morning, July 20, 1952, at 6:35 a. m. in the fellowship of her immediate loved ones.

Olga reached the age of 41 years and 25 days. She leaves to mourn her departure her beloved husband, Willard H. Regier, and the children Lois and Eldon at the home; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gus P. Regier; her husband’s parents. Mr. and Mrs. John L. Regier, all of R. R. 3 Newton; two brothers, Gustav H. Regier of Newton and Walter Regier of Colby, Kansas: three sisters, Helen, Mrs. Richard Thoman of West Liberty, Ohio, Louise, Mrs. Levi Hiebert of Wichita, Marie, Mrs. Gus H. Entz, of Newton; her husband's sisters, Frieda, Mrs. John Busenitz and Ellen, Mrs. Raymond Unruh, both of Newton and their husbands and wives, besides many other relatives and friends. One brother Arthur preceded her in death in 1918. — The Family.
