— Funeral services for Henry H. Voth, 68, of Newton took place Sunday afternoon at the Alexanderwohl church near Goessel, Rev. P. A. Wedel in charge. Mr. Voth died May9 at the Axtell Christian Hospital. A retired carpenter, he lived in the Goessel and Elbing communities before moving to Newton 16 years ago. Survivors include his wife, the former Katie Buhler; a son, Herman R. of Newton; three daughters, Mrs. Herman Busenitz of Whitewater, Mrs. Ruth Penner of Peabody, and Mrs. Herbert Claassen of Potwin; a sister, Mrs. Henry Unruh of Halstead; and 11 grandchildren.

HENRY H. VOTH

Henry H. Voth, son of John and Anna Wolf Voth, was born at Goessel, Kansas on Oct. 8, 1888, and passed away peacefully at the Axtell Christian Hospital on May 9, 1957, at 3:30 p. m. having reached the age of 68 years and eight months.

His childhood and youth were spent in the Goessel community where he received his education. He was baptized upon his confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ in the year 1911 by Rev. Henry Banman and became a member of the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church where he remained a member until his death.

On April 17, 1913, he was united in marriage to Katie Buhler at the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church by Rev. P. H. Unruh. To this union were born six children. One son and one daughter preceded him in death in infancy.

After residing at Goessel for 15 years, the family moved to the Elbing community where they lived for 12 years. In 1939 they moved to the present home at 701 West 5th St., Newton, Kansas.

He became ill in the fall of 1956 and on Feb. 26, 1957, he submitted to surgery at the Axtell Christian Hospital. After five weeks he was able to return to his home, but during the following four weeks he began to fail and was taken back to the hospital on April 28, where on May 9 at 3:30 p. m. he passed to his eternal rest.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife and four children. Martha (Mrs. Herman Busenitz) of Whitewater, Ann (Mrs. Rudolph Penner) of Peabody, Helen (Mrs. Herbert Classen) of Potwin and Herman R. Voth of Newton, three sons-in-law, one daughter-in0law and eleven grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Henry B. Unruh of Halstead, Kansas; nieces and nephews, and many other close relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held in the Miller Funeral Home at Goesel and at the Alexanderwohl Church on Sunday afternoon, May 12, at 2:00 p. m., directed by the pastor, Rev. P. A. Wedel. Interment was made in the Alexanderwohl Church cemetery.
