LENA (HELEN) PENNER

Lena Penner, daughter of Peter and Susanna (nee Janzen) Penner was born in 1890 in South Russia. Two years later the family moved to Manitoba, and after another two years to Rosthern, Sask. Here in her early teens she was saved, and after baptism, joined the Ebenfeld church at Laird. In her later teens she became the victim of a malady with intense pain at times, and in spite of operations, did not fully recover. However, she became strong enough to be her father's housekeeper after her mother died. Later she assisted elderly folk in their homes in Saskatoon, and after 1946, in Chilliwack, B.C.

In 1962 she was admitted to the Tabor home, and her years there seemed to be the best years of her life. May God reward the manager and staff for the services rendered. In the fall of 1972 her strength began failing progressively, and she died on February 2 in the MSA Hospital at the age of 82.

She leaves to mourn her brother Jacob Penner and family, and a number of relatives and friends.
