SUSAN PENNER

Susan Penner was born into the family of Rev. and Mrs. Jacob M. Thiessen in 1895, in South Russia. When she was 7 years old the family moved to Herbert, Sask. Here she was baptized in 1911 and joined the church.

In 1914 she was married to John C. Penner of Greenfarm. In 1924 they moved to Shafter, California, working at various jobs. Later her husband opened a real estate and insurance business there. Susan's interests were concentrated around mission relief workers, and she spent a lot of time making up relief bundles, gathering clothing for relief, and writing letters to missionaries and keeping in touch with others in her group.

In 1964 they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary, and after 58 years of marriage, she went to be with her Lord on Sept. 29, at age 77.

Left to mourn are her husband, two sons in Shafter, three daughters in Shafter, three brothers in Saskatchewan, and four sisters, all but one in Canada, as well as 14 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and many friends and other relatives.
