NICK SIEBERT

Nick Siebert, lately of Aldergrove, formerly of Greendale, B.C., was born in Sparrow, Russia, in 1887. He accepted the Lord as Saviour in his early twenties and became a member of the MB Church. During WW1 he served as a forest ranger in the First Aid Corps, but due to ill health was released.

In 1916 he was married to Gertrude Neufeld, of Ufa. During the revolution his life was miraculously spared when a piece of shrapnell killed his father as the two were walking together. Against the wishes of their family, the couple decided to emigrate to Canada with their four small children. They arrived in 1925 in Dalmeny, moving soon to La Glace, Alta. After 20 years of pioneering in the Peace River district the family moved to Greendale, B.C., where Nick served as a minister for many years. .

After July of this year his health declined rapidly and he died on November 11. He leaves to mourn his wife Gertrude, four sons, and four daughters and their families. Funeral services were held in the Greendale MB Church with Rev. David Froese and J. B. Harder officiating.
