JACOB HENRY REGEHR

Jacob Henry Regehr of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, was born January 26, 1887 to Henry and Helene (Janzen) Regehr in Prangenau, southern Russia. In 1924 he was baptized upon his confession of faith and became a member of the Mennonite Brethren church at Kalentar. He came from Russia to Coaldale, Alta., in 1925. On June 6, 1927 he was united in marriage to Katharina Quapp. The Lord gave them four children. In 1947 the family came to Ontario and settled in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Mr. Regehr had been very hard of hearing for many years. In the latter years he became quite weak. He went to be with the Lord at the Niagara Hospital on June 15 at the age of 85. His wife predeceased him on April 20, 1960, and a grandchild, Wanda Granger, in January of this year. He leaves to mourn his son, Daniel, and family of Niagara-on-the-Lake; three daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Johanna) Granger and Susie of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Mrs . Lester (Irma ) Anderson, Jamaica; 12 grandchildren; a brother, Peter Regehr, of Coaldale, and a sister, Katharina Giesbrecht, Yarrow, B.C. Funeral services were held from the Virgil MB Church on June 19 with Rev. John G. Baerg ministering.
